Just to get some more money out of Pekinites

Ticket and Tow in Draconia
Pekin police have ticketed atleast 500 and towed atleast 60 vehicles. Don't blame the police or city hall they say. The city manager said he made it clear that it was a City Wide parking ban. Nevermind that people have lives and there are sometimes very good reasons their vehicles are on the street. Not everyone checks what City hall says.

Round Here

this is how we get things done Round Here
East Peoria cab rides to get pricier.
While the economy hurts people's wallets, the city council votes to do the same. A $1.10 one mile ride will now cost $5.60. Who uses cabs the most? Drinkers. Say hello to more drunk driving!
Peoria Airport
Airlines are cutting back on flights from Peoria all the while Peoria is adding a new terminal.
Tyler McCoy was drunk
Would post the video but apparently blogger retarded right now. It's not particularly exciting anyway. The evidence is in the fact that the deputy shut off the mic. Then towards the end, Tyler can't walk. WAS DRUNK no breathalyzer equals cover-up.

Abuse of power much?

Here is what pisses me off the most about this society inwhich law enforcement officials and rulemakers are held to a LOWER standard. I cannot find anywhere on the net the mug shots of the faggot jailers that abuse their victims. I can find mine, i cannot find theirs.

I didn't see officer Piro slip as he slammed her face into the concrete.
Nor did I see her lunge at officer Bieber before he punched her in the face.
Becky Behm awarded $175,ooo.

There have been more documented excessive force cases in Tazewell.
4 Tazewell County jailers indicted - Peoria, IL - pjstar.com
-$440k to a Washington man who received a beating severe enough that bones were broken.

-A former inmate was sexually harassed by a corrections officer and awarded $100k. She claimed that she twice was made to perform oral sex on him.
While I don't believe that she was "forced" to do it, this is what happens when Officers don't follow their own rules. I know that there were ways to get around her prediciment if she really didn't want to do it. But, hey, kudos to her.

Where, o where has my tax money gone?

Sherrif Huston filed charges to get the case overruled.
Judge Michael Brandt reversed the Tazewell County Sheriff's Merit Commission's ruling.

Bush visits Peoria

Bush visited Peoria at Weaver Farms in order to promote Aaron Schock. Weaver Farms is a very big-scale rich establishement. Bush went through downtown where CAT thrives and talked to his like-minded folks at 500$ a dinner. Why didn't he visit the housing sections to which people are struggling to get by? Why has he never visited that section? Oh yeah, he is campaigning. He is always campaigning. When does this man actually do his job? I can see why he is loved by his CEO community. When will another Bobby Kennedy come along and have compassion for the communities he visits?

noise pollution

Noise Pollution
In Peoria, a new law allows cops to impound a person's vehicle if they can hear their radio from 75ft away on a first offense. They did this in the name of noise violations. They set it up right away and started confinscating vehicles right away. They had it all publicized right away, too. In the first article in the paper, it was mentioned that the officers didn't want to burden offenders and so a father picking up his child got a ride to where his child was. How is he supposed to get home? How is this not a burden? Is it just radios? Is it a noise violation or not? If it is in the name of noise violations, then why don't they take away dogs that bark excessively after 10pm? Or bikers that ride at any time of day. There are bikes that I know I can hear past 300 yards away at 2am. Why aren't their bikes stopped and why aren't their bikes taken away? Why aren't those dogs taken away? The dogs bark when there is no danger. If you can see, which is a requirement to getting a driver's license, then you should be able to see a bike. I have witnessed many bike wrecks that had nothing to do with noise of biker's bikes.

JS editorial and opinion page

Gillet: "Evolution is taught in our schools as a fact. But the view of intelligent design is a forbidden concept in the classroom because it implies a belief in God. This is a treasonous violation of the First Amendment.
The dialogues of Plato and Saint Thomas Aquinas were such an enlightening model for the art of learning, as they encouraged people to think through such profound questions. To deny a belief in God because it's politically incorrect is to sacrifice the true art of education for a state agenda of indoctrination.
Syndicated columnist Ann Coulter says the belief in evolution nurtures our base passions for power. The evolutionary concept, survival of the fittest, seems to have fertilized the Marxist belief in class warfare and Hitler's power struggle among the races."

Ahh, i wouldn't have responded to this, but, he had to quote Ann Coulter. I gather someone's intelligence by the content of what they say, but, AC pushes the envelope.
Anyway, evolution is taught as an idea, and it seems to most that it is more plausible than being made from dust or a rib. Intelligent design is not a forbidden concept. Maybe you haven't heard of this, but there are Catholic (and the like) schools and an option of home schooling! I'll get to the 1st Amendment later.
Encouraging people to think through such profound questions is what Darwin and such did. Relying on the Bible for such is the opposite. Schools aren't denying a belief in god.
People that don't care for power also believe in evolution or atleast favor it over intelligent design. Blaming survival of the fittest for class warfare and Hitler is like blaming food making for people who diliberately poison food.

Faust: ..."the first Amendment also clearly says, 'Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.'
It states that the U.S. government will not endorse or sponsor any one particular religion"...
Intelligent design is religious.
..."Public schools are public property, and public property is maintained through tax dollars obtained by the government from tax-paying American people."...
Unlike private schools.
..."If intelligent design is to be taught in public schools, then what's to stop people who refute that the Holocaust ever happened as accurate history from being taught in class?"

-cop gets away for being dumb. So the police are dumbshits, and those who judge police are the teachers of dumbshits. if you are not familiar with the story, quickly, A cop lived, well, not lived, but slept and spent all his working hours off work, at a Party house. now, we cannot delve too far into what kind of party house, but when the house got busted there was coke all about him. now, I know some cops, I know some cool cops, but i don't know any that do coke. but, the douchebag got off because his lawyer convinced the "jury" that the residue was planted by the partygoers. now, I'm not a hypocrite that does medicated drugs and chimes marijuana is wrong, you should be hussed around by cops, but if your not intelligient, speculative, or observant, you should have your balls kicked continously before becoming a cop. I'd much rather get busted by a clean douche bag.

I'll be home for X-mas

This cartoon by Gary Markstein has sure gotten a lot of flack. Robert from E. Peoria says the guy is either without feelings for the men and women of our armed forces and their families or is just plain stupid.
I disagree, I think he absolutely has feelings about the soldiers and they are most likely deeper than his disagreeing peanut gallery. I'm sure he wants those people in particular to check themselves.

Remember when the Bush administration tried to shield the public from seeing pictures of the coffins of fallen soldiers. Well, soon enough we got to see them on the news. For those of you who were offended, it's good to see that your using your eyes now. What is it about this government and manipulating the news of what's really going on? Democracy is better with informed citizens.

death is the worst outcome, if you have to resort to that then you are at the edge of all human emotian, why would someone want to live so much that he would want someone else to just die.

Personally, i want all death row inmates that are guilty to suffer, before they take all me taxes.

Maybe this is the first that you have looked at the opinion page, but always at the top of the page there is an opinionated cartoon, almost exclusively on one side of politics or the other. I am amazed that someone would write in on this exept unless there was a month of right wing, the dumb bitch got used to them and then some fuck snuck in a left wing cartoon for human rights, that fucker...

practice selective censorship

I loved this write-in from Don in Pekin - Liberals like to practice selective censorship. It basically says that for four years they have been listening to liberals cry about Bush. The Libs are defended by free speech. Then when Kerry went against Bush, the Libs cried foul when the Cons played dirty politics.
Wow, Don, were you born four years ago? I've been alive longer than four years and I seem to remember that this is Politics as Usual. Both parties do it. If you are going to concern yourself with the party rather than the issue, then you are going to be blinded by the slogan "we are better". Please, put down the pen, and stop teaching children to be stupid.

Ava from Washington writes in to lambaste J. Klein's intelligent design theory article.
First off, she wants an explanation why a columnist isn't committed to the truth even when it isn't to thier liking. At the top of the page it is written in, however, it reads, (in the biggest letters of the page and at top), OPINION.
She says, "Evolution is not just a theory but an explanation that has been confirmed by observation and experiments that knowledgeable experts accept as fact."
I believe that evolution is a much better explanation to what is rather than intelligent design. Actually, I think that intelligent design was designed to explain nothing. However, who observed Evolution? What are these confirmed experiments that (it must be all experts to be a fact) knowledgeable experts accept as fact.

Hypocrisy: Republicans eleven years ago made a rule that when a leader of a faction, such as a chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, is indicted, that he should step down from the post. This rule has worked in thier favor before. Now, they want to change their rule to allow House Majority Leader Tom Delay to keep his post. Even he concedes that Rep.s changed the rules so that Dem.s cannot "use our rules against us".

liberals should take

Marlene Noll says that she would be happy to help liberals pack up and leave the country.
Sorry, Marlene, but the liberals aren't promising to leave, but to take half of their country.
People don't complain about politics because they hate their country, they complain because they somehow heard that America is the best. They have ideas that they think could allow that to be true. True Americans believe in a thing called progression. Others, such as Miss Noll, believe in ignorance and shutting people up. Do me and several others a favor, stop reading the Newspaper.

Bob Alley says that "God-hating athiests should either shut up or get out". This was another forum write-in from a blind religious Charlatan. He states that this country was founded on Christian principals and certainly not on secularist malarky or pseudo science of evolution. I for one was unaware that somebody thought this country was founded on evolution, never heard anyone speak of that.
Freedom
Didn't many of the first to partake in the voyage across the Atlantic leave England to escape the government views on religion.
I hardly ever hear an athiest's viewpoint on anything. I do, however, hear much coming from agnostics. But to me the intolerance is being spewed by Christians like Mr. Alley.

Leonard from E. Peoria tells us that liberals have succeeded in brainwashing the public into believing that the Constitution calls for the separation of church and state.
Sir, our forefathers and almost all politicians since call for the separation of church and state, and as aforementioned, many left England for that right.
"Some liberals also believe in unlimited immagration, amnesty for illegals and surrendering our sovereignty to the United Nations."
Sir, Bush believes in amnesty for illegals, and I guarantee no liberal is willing to give up our nation to the United Nations.
"They are also supporters of gun control and against our Second Amendment right to bear arms ..."
Sir, it is impossible to support gun control and against the right to bear arms.

I hope for the day without titles. No more liberals, conservatives, Democrats, Republicans,...

Mr. Alley even offended an Army veteran, go figure. Bob is even telling our veterans to shut up or get out. Robin from Peoria Heights reminds us that this country was founded on freedom. Freedom regardless of religion, believing or disbelief. Shut up or get out is a belief of the terrorists we are fighting. Shouldn't Christians be more tolerant and less judgemental. "And people like me fought to make sure he is able to keep the right to spout off such dribble."
